What do you see as a Product Manager’s main role within product development?
A product manager’s main role in product development is managing all of a product’s different facets. As a PM, you need to ensure that communication between all departments is running smoothly, and you will be in contact with marketing.

Tell us about a time you used data to influence an important stakeholder.
We had a lot of qualitative data that showed this client would benefit from using our product in terms of cost reduction and customer satisfaction. However, the client was very ‘data-phobic’; he refused to increase spending on analytics unless there was hard data that showed it would improve his business.

What main changes would you make to our product?
The main change I would make to our product is to the website. The Company already has a website that works well and gives customers a great experience. I would ensure that there are clear steps for the customers to get off the website and onto Facebook.

What was your favorite project you worked on?
My favorite project was working for a Company called logos. Because it gave me the chance to learn so much about various technologies, from HTML5 and JavaScript to Flash 8. x and Flex applications. It allowed me to see how our product’s different pieces worked together to create something.

You can give answers like this-I stay user-focused by keeping an eye on the trends and what is good for the customer. I also keep up with research to see whether we are missing out on anything.

I have a 5-year plan where I would like to move up the ladder, so I’m currently working in a junior role to get my hands dirty in the field and then move up to mid-level management.
